It sucks to have someone stepping on your toes. You’re happily getting crap done when someone comes along and tries to get that same crap done! WTF, right? That’s my crap! Step off, hombre!
In true “everything is your fault” fashion, I recently came across the idea of “making your toes shorter” and harder to step on.
This can mean a lot of different things. Maybe it means being more vocal about what you are (and aren’t) working on. Maybe it means single-tasking instead of multitasking. Maybe it means it’s RACI time. Maybe it means breaking the work into smaller, more atomic chunks. Maybe it means collaborating from the start so you get ahead of the problem.
How can you and your team make your toes shorter? Ask that in your next retro if there’s too much toe-stepping going on.
