(This is super awkward to blog about. I’m doing it in the spirit of minimizing the the things I don’t want people to know about me).
I read the book Bigger Leaner Stronger recently and it said that I should answer three questions:
- What does your ideal body look like?
- What would your ideal state of health be like?
- Why do you want to achieve these goals?
So here are my answers.
What does your ideal body look like? It looks like this random dude that I found by searching Google Images for “lean muscular guys” which is not at all a weird thing to do:

According to this, it looks like dudebro is at about 10% body fat, and I’m currently at about 17-18ish% body fat:
So that means I need to lose like ten pounds of fat (and gain a lot of muscle; easy peasy right).
What would your ideal state of health be like? My ideal state of health is to have a strong, energetic, and healthy body that lives long and and looks good.
One of my life goals is “I want to look the most fit in a bathing suit out of anyone my age that I know” so that’s where that comes from. Yes, I know that’s an unhealthy vanity goal. Yes, I know looking good does not equal happiness. I don’t care. I want a dang six pack, sue me.
Why do you want to achieve these goals? I want the confidence that comes from a good looking body. And I want the freedom that comes from a strong, energetic, healthy body.
I want to be able to chase my grandkids around, and compete in Spartan races or triathlons, and take my shirt off at the pool without any embarrassment.
Those are my goals. What are yours?
