Supposedly, if you lower your expectations, you’ll be happier. The example that sometimes gets tossed around as proof is that you can make people happy by giving them bad news and then taking it back.
I don’t buy it. You can make someone happy by first bumming them out? That’s a narrow definition of happiness. I’d like to be happy during the “expecting” part too. What about the joy of anticipation?
I’ll think on this some more, but it feels off.
