Finding shark teeth

My ten year old has a weird knack for finding shark teeth at the beach. He found almost 200 in a week last summer. Today, he found 32 (pic below) on a single half mile walk. I found exactly two on that same walk and I was proud of that.

When you ask what his secret is, he doesn’t know. But if you watch him, he folds over in half while walking and keeps his head close to the ground. And from there, he pokes at anything that’s dark black.

It’s kind of grueling, really. But he loves the payoff. Like Mark Manson says: “What unpleasant experiences are you able to handle? What shit sandwich are you willing to eat?”

It’s like discipline; it’s all about feeling good afterwards instead of during.
