Goals are like lighthouses

(I stole this from Ryder Carroll, the guy who created bullet journaling, on this podcast.)

Lighthouses are there for guidance, but anyone who boats straight toward a lighthouse will crash.

Goals are like that. Blindly pursue a goal and you’ll eventually crash into it. By the time you get there, you may realize it’s not what you wanted after all. So use the goal as directional guidance, but change direction (find another lighthouse) based on what you learn along the way.
