A few months ago, I heard a dietitian on a podcast saying that the only dietary guideline that matters is to eat a lot of plants (or maybe it was “mostly plants”?). If you do that, he said, then it’s pretty hard to not be healthy.
Then a month ago I saw this video which makes a case for eating at least 30 different types of plants per week.
AND THEN the other day I heard Dr. Kelly Starrett talking about eating 800g (1.75lb) of plants per day, So I went on the hunt and discovered the 800g Challenge.
Eat 800 grams, by weight, of the fruits and vegetables of your choice per day. Eight-hundred grams fits on a standard dinner plate and averages 400-500 calories. The 800g Challenge is about six cups, which is a great way to estimate your grams!
Continue to eat whatever else you want. Still no restrictions, just additions.
