My hypothesis is that a common career path goes in a bell shape like this:
- Engineer: mostly creating good things (build it and ship it, baby!)
- Tech lead: half and half
- Manager: mostly preventing bad things
- Director: half and half
- Senior leader: mostly creating good things (vision, strategy, inspiration, etc.)
Which do you spend more time doing? Which do you enjoy more?
