“I want to change the world.”
“I want to be a bestselling author.”
“I want to be CEO of a Fortune 500 company.”
There are all kinds of reasons why you aren’t getting started on those things. Timing’s not right, whatever. The size of the goal protects you from taking action. Nobody’s going to think badly of you because you aren’t a CEO yet.
Smaller aspirations have less excuses for not making progress. It’s easy to rationalize why you aren’t a best selling author yet, but explaining why you haven’t self published a short story is tougher.
If you’re not making progress on your lofty goals, make them less lofty. That way there are fewer places to hide.
