If you’re dreading some upcoming event, see if you can spread out the pain so it doesn’t happen all at once.
- Self evaluations and reviews (write them throughout the cycle instead of all at the end)
- Spring cleaning/decluttering (throw one thing into a “donate” box every day)
- Remembering your standup updates (take notes, use git-standup, or walk the board)
Get the idea? Spread out the pain so you barely feel it.
Of course, some upcoming things will always be painful. Thanksgiving will always suck if you hate your relatives (unless you stop going).
