Don’t expect asymmetrical communication

You know that thing where you keep asking the new person to speak up when they need help, and they never do? You keep begging them to ask more questions, and they say they will, then nothing?

If you want someone to reach out more, you need to check in more. Sometimes people don’t feel comfortable with asymmetrical communication loads. So balance the scales – check in with them as much as you wish they would reach out to you.
