What are you subtracting in 2023?

Most New Year’s resolutions are additive. More exercise. More water. More books. More learning. More money. More passion. More more more.

But of course, we should always try subtracting before adding. So what do you want less of? What were your biggest stressors or energy drains of 2022? What did you invest time and energy in which didn’t pay off? How can you drop those things?

A few for me:

  • Duolingo (it felt like a chore and I wasn’t getting any value from it)
  • Beeminder (it stopped feeling motivating and started feeling stressful)
  • Self help or job related books (I still read them, but not exclusively anymore)
  • Random Zoom coffee chats with people I probably won’t work with anytime soon
