(That’s sprint as in Scrum, not as in running).
Why you shouldn’t end sprints on Fridays and start them on Mondays:
- Engineers may be tempted to work over the weekend to hit their sprint commitment.
- People cruise through Friday retros because they’re tired and ready for the weekend.
- Jumping right from the weekend into a Monday sprint planning meeting with no ramp-up? Ugh.
- Holidays and PTO days tend to fall on Fridays and Mondays. Not ideal for recurring meetings where the whole team should be present.
Try ending/starting in the middle of the week instead.
