For all the things you think you want, ask yourself why? What are the desires behind those desires?
The book Untamed has a cool example. A mom wanted to book a beach vacation for her family despite being dead broke. That was of course the surface desire. The root desire was for family bonding time away from the daily chaos. So she started putting their phones in a basket for an hour every night instead.
For all of the things you think you want, why do you want them? What’s the root desire? Could someone else satisfy it?
