I’ve started writing a letter to my team every week. Example outline:
- Top of mind
- A couple paragraphs about whatever’s on my mind that week
- Project stuff
- Current priority
- Related OKR
- Timelines/dates to be aware of
- People stuff
- Upcoming PTO
- Shout outs
- People management stuff (example: “We’ll be starting BICEPS check-ins next week!”)
- Company stuff
- Recent org updates
- Upcoming notable events
- Hot new links
- Random stuff
- Links to interesting Slack threads
- Questions to ponder
- Whatever whatever!
People seem to like it as long as I keep it short. It’s great for all of the reasons that writing in general is great.
