Paraphrase, paraphrase, paraphrase

Works just as well for stakeholders as it does for four year olds. Paraphrase what people say back to them. Make it a habit. Do it all the freaking time.

Two reasons:

• You have to make them feel heard before they’ll be ready to listen
• There’s a good chance you didn’t really understand what they were saying
