If a ticket is created in “In Progress” and skips right past the backlog, then it’s probably unplanned work. And unplanned work is almost always at least one type of waste.
Any exception to our normal planning process is a smell that may point to something that’s broken (usually either our process or our prioritization). So issues born in “Doing” are a trigger to talk about how to reduce/kill unplanned work and stay consistent with our process.
