Getting Things Done (which I’ve talked about before) has this excellent rule:
If an action will take less than two minutes, it should be done at the moment it’s defined.
The problem I have is that most of my less-than-two-minute todos are defined while I’m on a 1-1 with someone. So for me the rule is: “If a thing in my todo list will take less than two minutes, it should be done the next time I see it and I’m not in a meeting.”
